Georgia Woman Arrested for Highway Shooting Spree During Solar Eclipse in Florida
Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers arrested a 22-year-old Georgia woman in connection with shooting incidents on a highway in Florida’s panhandle during Monday’s solar eclipse. According to FHP reports, Taylon Nichelle Celestine claimed that “God” instructed her to conduct the shooting spree, purportedly in relation to the eclipse.
Celestine fired shots at two vehicles traveling west on Interstate 10, resulting in one driver being grazed in the arm and another in the neck. After the shootings, she reportedly left a Holmes County hotel in a purple Dodge Challenger. A trooper spotted her vehicle exiting the interstate in Ponce De Leon. As she attempted to re-enter the highway with a U-turn, she was pulled over by the trooper.
Upon searching Celestine’s vehicle, troopers found a 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle. She was then taken into custody and transported to the Holmes County Jail. Celestine now faces charges including attempted murder, improper discharge of a firearm, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
