D’Marquivius Jamon (DJ) King, aged 25, from Griffin, Spalding County, Georgia, has been indicted by a Spalding County Grand Jury on one felony count of Violation of Oath of Office. The indictment comes after an investigation was initiated by the Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office on February 28, 2023. This investigation was prompted by concerns regarding King’s handling of the Javarreis Reid murder case, which he was assigned to investigate.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that King, while serving as an investigator with the Griffin Police Department, became aware of the involvement of his brother, Damon Beck, in the murder of Javarreis Reid. However, King failed to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. The case was presented to the Spalding County Grand Jury on March 20, 2024, resulting in a True Bill indictment against King for Violation of Oath of Office.

On March 22, 2024, D’Marquivius Jamon King voluntarily surrendered himself and was subsequently booked into the Spalding County Jail.

The investigation into this matter was conducted independently by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). The findings of the GBI’s investigation were then handed over to the Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
