Duluth Police Officer Honored with Life-Saving Award

Duluth Police Department proudly announced that Master Patrol Officer Andrew Bray has been bestowed with the Life-Saving Award at the Gwinnett Chamber’s 19th Annual VALOR Public Safety Awards. Officer Bray’s remarkable bravery and quick thinking during an incident on Highway 316 in 2023 led to the preservation of a life.

On May 15, 2023, Officer Bray was en route to work when he found himself amidst traffic on Georgia State Route 316. Amidst the congestion, Bray noticed a distressing scene: a woman was desperately attempting the Heimlich maneuver on a child.

Without hesitation, Bray sprang into action. Abandoning his vehicle, he rushed to aid the girl. With calmness and expertise, he successfully dislodged the piece of candy causing the child’s choking.
