Man Wanted for Multiple Domestic-Related Felonies Captured After Vehicle Collisions

A man wanted for multiple domestic-related felonies was apprehended after a series of vehicle collisions on Thursday afternoon, March 7th.

The incident unfolded around 1:30 p.m. when an officer from the North Precinct responded to a domestic dispute at a residence on Brookefall Landing in unincorporated Suwanee. According to reports, a woman at the residence informed the officer that she had been subjected to assault, threats, and held at gunpoint by her husband, identified as Lance Bradley Nelson, aged 47, of Suwanee, over the past two days. Nelson was reportedly armed with both a rifle and a handgun during the altercation, which started as a verbal argument before escalating into physical violence, leaving the woman feeling unsafe.

Taking advantage of a momentary distraction on March 7th afternoon, the woman managed to flee to a neighbor’s residence seeking assistance, while Nelson left the scene driving a grey Mercedes SUV.

Subsequently, law enforcement officers located Nelson’s vehicle nearby and attempted to pull it over, but he evaded capture, speeding away at a high velocity. The Aviation Unit was called in to assist in tracking the suspect’s movements.

Close to 5:00 p.m., Nelson was spotted attempting to access the parking deck at Gas South Arena in Duluth. Finding the structure closed, he proceeded onto Sugarloaf Parkway, where two marked patrol cars attempted to halt his vehicle. However, in the ensuing confrontation, Nelson’s vehicle collided with both patrol cars, resulting in the loss of a tire and subsequent spinning. Despite this, Nelson continued driving, ultimately colliding with a grey passenger car and a pickup truck on Sugarloaf Parkway.

Exiting his vehicle through the passenger side door, Nelson attempted to flee on foot but was pursued and apprehended by responding officers in front of a nearby hotel.

There were no reported injuries to the occupants of the other vehicles involved.

Lance Bradley Nelson now faces a litany of charges including Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of Certain Crimes, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Family Violence Battery, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Reckless Driving, and Obstruction.
