Drag Racing Crash in Troup County Leaves Two Dead and Several Injured

Local first responders and Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol rushed to the scene of a devastating accident in Troup County on March 10, 2024, at 8:56 PM. The incident occurred on Antioch Road and involved a fatal drag racing collision.

According to authorities, a Chevrolet S-10 was engaged in a drag race with another vehicle when the driver lost control. The S-10 veered off the road and collided with a parked Chevrolet Trailblazer, which tragically had four spectators inside.

“The driver of the S-10 lost control of the vehicle and struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer, which was parked on the shoulder of the roadway, with four spectators,” stated officials.

The other vehicle involved in the race fled the scene, leaving behind chaos and devastation. The crash resulted in the loss of two lives and left three others with severe injuries.

In response to the incident, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
