Former Police Officer Arrested on Multiple Sexual Assault Charges Including Rape and Child Molestation

Columbus Police Department (CPD) initiated an investigation in August 2020 regarding reports of sexual assaults against a minor. Subsequent to the recent discovery of additional evidence by investigators, warrants were secured on February 21, 2024, for the apprehension of Corey Brand.

On Friday, February 23, 2024, Brand was arrested pursuant to the outstanding warrants and formally charged with the following offenses:

  • Rape
  • Child Molestation
  • Aggravated Sexual Battery
  • Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention
  • Violation of Oath of Office

Brand, who had previous legal encounters with the Phenix City Police Department, was recently discharged from the Russell County Jail in east Alabama. Presently, he is detained in the Muscogee County Jail, facing the aforementioned charges.
