Man Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit and Roof Jump Following Stolen Vehicle Crash

One man is under arrest after a stolen vehicle crash and a subsequent foot pursuit Wednesday afternoon. The pursuit began when Glynn County Police officer Annalyse DeBruijn was patrolling Altama Avenue near Publix and noticed a silver Honda CRV. Her automated License Plate Reader indicated the Honda might be stolen. Officer DeBruijn attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not comply, leading to a chase that reached speeds of up to 90 mph. The vehicle crashed into a telephone pole on Wolfe Street, and the driver fled on foot, climbing onto a roof on Albany Street. Officer DeBruijn apprehended the suspect after jumping from a neighboring roof onto the one where the suspect was hiding.

The Honda was reported stolen earlier that morning to Brunswick Police. The driver, 18-year-old Jason Middlebrooks, was arrested and handed over to Brunswick Police Department. Middlebrooks faces charges from Glynn County Police Department including felony Theft by Receiving, fleeing and attempting to elude, and multiple traffic-related offenses.
