Atlanta Man Found Guilty in Fatal Shooting Outside Rooming House in DeKalb County

DeKalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston has announced a jury conviction in the case of an Atlanta man charged with fatally shooting another man outside a rooming house. Sincere Rush, 22, was found guilty on Thursday of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony in connection with the death of Marcus Bradford, 51, on November 28, 2022.

According to investigators, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when DeKalb County Police responded to a shooting at a residence on Clifton Church Road. They discovered Bradford with a gunshot wound in the carport of the home. Rush was present at the scene.

Reports indicate that the homeowner rented rooms at the residence, and Bradford’s girlfriend was among the tenants. She told police that she and Bradford were eating pizza in a car in the carport when Rush approached them, claiming they were being loud. Bradford attempted to explain they were not disturbing anyone when Rush shot him.

Rush called 911 and alleged self-defense, stating Bradford had approached him aggressively. However, surveillance video from the carport revealed Rush arriving armed with a gun, while Bradford was unarmed during the confrontation.

DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Tangela Barrie, overseeing the trial, has scheduled Rush’s sentencing hearing for July 10. The case was prosecuted by Senior Assistant District Attorney Tauri Thomas with support from Assistant District Attorney Emily Donkervoet, District Attorney Investigator Christopher Hollowood, and Supervising Victim Advocate Ikwo Nyong. DeKalb County Police Department Detectives Smith and Wright led the initial investigation.
