Skeletal Remains in Newton County Identified as Woman Missing Since 2018
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the skeletal remains discovered on March 20, 2024, in woods near Hollingsworth Road. The Newton County Sheriff’s Office reported that the remains are those of a 54-year-old woman, Stacey Faye Nease, who disappeared in 2018.
Loved ones reported Nease missing on August 10, 2018, and authorities spent months searching for her. When she vanished, she was residing at her boyfriend’s Newton home, and officials found her wallet, identification, purse, and medication.
Officials notified her family of their discovery. The sheriff’s office expressed that the recently established evidence has sparked new hope in the case.
