11 Teenagers Wounded, Two Critical, in Carolyn Crayton Park Mass Shooting in Macon
MACON, Ga. — Eleven teenagers were injured, including two who remain in critical condition, after a mass shooting erupted during a large gathering at Carolyn Crayton Park early Sunday morning, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center received initial reports of gunfire at the park just after midnight. Responding deputies dispatched to the scene were notified while en route that multiple gunshot victims had begun arriving at a local medical facility in personal vehicles.
Mass Shooting at Park Gathering
Deputies responded to Carolyn Crayton Park to secure the scene and collect evidence following reports of gunfire during a large crowd gathering. Investigators confirmed that 11 individuals—all aged 17 or 18—were struck by bullets during the incident.
Medical personnel reported the victim breakdown and current conditions as follows:
- Five 17-Year-Old Males: One in critical condition; four in stable condition.
- Four 18-Year-Old Males: One in critical condition; three in stable condition.
- Two 18-Year-Old Females: Both listed in stable condition.
Hospital staff noted that nine of the victims are recovering in stable condition, while two victims—a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male—remain in critical condition due to the severity of their injuries.
Ongoing Investigation and Call for Information
Detectives with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) are working to piece together the sequence of events and identify what led to the shooting. Authorities have not yet released suspect descriptions or announced any arrests.
