Two Men Arrested for Murder in Fatal Shooting at Jefferson Subway Restaurant

JEFFERSON, Ga. – Two Pendergrass men have been arrested on murder charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old man at a Subway restaurant in Jefferson, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Terrance Singleton, 21, and Brian Taylor, 23, are charged with murder in the death of Aaron Winston Johnson, 23, of Jefferson.

Jefferson police officers responded at approximately 3:16 p.m. Sept. 22 to the Subway at 5210 U.S. Highway 129 after a 911 caller reported a shooting.

Officers found Johnson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a regional hospital, where he later died.

According to the GBI, investigators determined that Singleton and Taylor had gone to a home in Commerce earlier that day to speak with Johnson, but Johnson did not come outside.

The GBI did not disclose what investigators believe happened between that visit and the shooting at the restaurant or what may have motivated the shooting.

Law enforcement located Singleton and Taylor in DeKalb County on Sept. 23. Both were arrested that day and booked into the Jackson County Jail.

The Jefferson Police Department requested assistance from the GBI with the homicide investigation. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Pendergrass Police Department, Georgia State Patrol and sheriff’s offices in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties also assisted.
