Macon-Bibb Traffic Operation Leads to Arrests, 68 Citations and Seizure of Guns, Drugs

MACON, Ga. – A joint law enforcement operation across Macon-Bibb County resulted in several arrests, dozens of traffic citations and the seizure of firearms and suspected drugs, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The operation was conducted Friday, Aug. 28, by several specialized units from the Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol.

Deputies conducted traffic stops and proactive patrols as part of what authorities described as a traffic enforcement and crime suppression initiative.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that officers issued 68 traffic citations and 32 warnings during the operation.

Several people were arrested, although authorities did not disclose the number of arrests or identify those taken into custody. Three outstanding warrants were also served.

Authorities seized approximately five firearms and an undisclosed amount of money.

Deputies also recovered marijuana and a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The agency did not disclose the quantities of suspected drugs seized or provide information about the charges resulting from the operation.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office C.I.T.E., H.E.A.T., SRT and K-9 Interdiction units participated in the enforcement effort alongside the Georgia State Patrol.

Sheriff David Davis said the operation was intended to go beyond traffic enforcement by allowing deputies to identify other suspected criminal activity during stops and patrols.
