Two Found Dead After Domestic Abuse Call, ShotSpotter Alert in Douglas

DOUGLAS, Ga. – Two people were found dead early Saturday morning after Douglas police responded to a report of domestic abuse and received a ShotSpotter gunfire alert from the same area.

The incident occurred during the early morning hours of Aug. 15 in the 600 block of West Bryan Street, according to the City of Douglas Police Department.

Police said officers were initially dispatched to the area following a report of domestic abuse. Almost immediately afterward, officers received a notification from the city’s ShotSpotter gunshot detection system indicating possible gunfire in the same area.

Officers arrived within minutes and discovered two people deceased.

Investigators with the Douglas Police Department were called to the scene and launched an investigation into the deaths. The department is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on the case.

Authorities have not released the identities of the two people or disclosed their relationship to one another. Police also have not said whether investigators believe one of the deceased individuals shot the other, and no details about the circumstances leading to the deaths have been released.

The Douglas Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to pursue leads in the case.
