31-Year-Old Calhoun Man Arrested After Witness Interrupts Abuse of Preschooler
CALHOUN, Ga. — A 31-year-old Calhoun man is in custody facing multiple severe felony charges after a witness reported interrupting him in the act of molesting a preschool-aged child over the weekend, local authorities announced.
31-year-old Ray Sum was arrested on Saturday afternoon, August 8, 2026, by Gordon County deputy sheriffs. Deputies responded to a private residence off Dews Pond Road in the Cash community following a 911 call reporting a crime in progress.
Interrupted Crime Leads to Rapid Arrest
According to the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, the complainant reported stepping in and interrupting the assault as it was occurring inside the home.
Deputies arrived rapidly at the location, identified Sum, and took him into custody without further incident. Officials confirmed that the victim in the case is a preschool-aged juvenile.

He is currently incarcerated and being held pending initial bond proceedings. Gordon County detectives continue to investigate the incident.
