Agile Cold Storage’s $150 Million Macon Facility Strengthens Region’s Logistics Industry
MACON, Ga. – Agile Cold Storage continues to expand its presence in Macon-Bibb County with a $150 million cold storage and distribution facility that has strengthened the region’s role as a major logistics and food distribution hub.
The 275,000-square-foot, multi-temperature warehouse officially opened in 2024 and supports 110 jobs in Macon-Bibb County.
The facility is Agile Cold Storage’s fourth location in Georgia and is strategically positioned near Interstate 75, Interstate 16 and the Port of Savannah, providing efficient transportation routes for the movement of perishable goods throughout the Southeast.
“We are proud to establish our presence in Macon, Georgia, with the opening of our latest facility, strategically located at the heart of the state with convenient access to both I-16 and the bustling I-75 corridor,” said Don Schoenl, president and chief executive officer of Agile Cold Storage.
Company officials said the facility features advanced automation and sustainable technologies designed to improve the storage and distribution of temperature-sensitive products while increasing operational efficiency and safety.
Schoenl said the investment reflects the company’s long-term commitment to serving customers across the Southeast and supporting economic growth in central Georgia.

Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller said the project represents a significant investment in the community’s economic future.

The facility is expected to play a key role in the region’s growing logistics sector by providing customized cold storage and distribution services for food producers, retailers and other businesses throughout the Southeast.
