Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Potential Misuse of Flock Camera System by Deputies

MACON, Ga. – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has launched internal investigations into three instances of potential misuse of its Flock Safety camera system after the activity was flagged during routine audits.

According to the sheriff’s office, the agency maintains comprehensive policies, procedures and accountability measures governing the use of the Flock camera system and conducts internal audits every 30 days to identify possible violations through Flock’s built-in auditing algorithm.

As part of those oversight efforts, three separate searches were flagged for review.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Unit is conducting administrative investigations to determine whether any deputies violated department policy while using the license plate reader system.

Officials emphasized that the investigations remain active and no conclusions have been reached.

The sheriff’s office stated that no deputies have been terminated or placed on administrative leave in connection with the investigations. However, the deputies under review have had their access to the Flock camera system suspended pending the outcome of the investigations.

If misconduct is substantiated, the sheriff’s office said appropriate administrative and, if warranted, legal action will be taken in accordance with agency policy and state law.

Officials also said the findings of the investigations will be made public upon completion, consistent with applicable laws and the agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability and maintaining public trust.
