15-Year-Old Arrested in Double Homicide at DeKalb County Park

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of two men at Constitution Lake Park, the DeKalb County Police Department announced.

Officers responded during the early morning hours of July 24 to Constitution Lake Park on South River Industrial Boulevard after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found two men in the parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims were identified as 23-year-old Tomas Cano and 27-year-old Andres Valtazar.

According to DeKalb County police, investigators worked diligently to identify the suspect, leading to the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile.

The suspect has been charged with two counts of murder, possession of a pistol by a minor and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, authorities have not released the individual’s identity.

Police have not released additional details regarding a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing.
