Two Arrested After GBI Seizes 90 Pounds of Suspected Methamphetamine in Metro Atlanta Drug Trafficking Investigation
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Two men have been arrested after investigators seized approximately 90 pounds of suspected methamphetamine during a joint operation targeting a Mexican-based drug trafficking organization operating in North Georgia.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, 32-year-old Carrizal Humberto of California and 34-year-old Malcolm Stephens of Toccoa were arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine.
The arrests were the result of a joint investigation led by the GBI Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office in partnership with the DeKalb County Police Department, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Homeland Security Investigations, and the Homeland Security Task Force.
Authorities said the investigation focused on a major Mexican-based drug trafficking organization believed to be a primary supplier of methamphetamine across North Georgia. Investigators allege the organization was responsible for distributing hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine throughout the region.
The operation concluded on June 23 with the arrests of Humberto and Stephens in DeKalb County.
During the operation, investigators seized approximately 90 pounds of suspected methamphetamine in Atlanta.
Both men were booked into the DeKalb County Jail.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
