According to the sheriff’s office, Cpl. Seth Vonderhuevel and Deputy Harold Franklin located the vehicle on Pio Nono Avenue near Rocky Creek Road and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The driver refused to stop and fled, leading deputies on a pursuit through Macon. Investigators said the suspect drove at high speeds, weaved into oncoming traffic, and ran multiple red lights with reckless disregard for public safety.

The pursuit ended when the driver lost control of the vehicle near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Lee Road, striking a utility pole’s ground wire.

After the crash, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Deputies quickly pursued and apprehended him without further incident.

Authorities said the suspect was already wanted on charges including aggravated assault-family violence, battery, and cruelty to children in the third degree.

In addition to the outstanding warrants, the suspect will face new charges of felony fleeing and eluding law enforcement and misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported for processing.
