Three Arrested in Thomas County Theft Investigation Involving More Than $250,000 in Losses
THOMAS COUNTY, Georgia – The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office arrested three people after investigators uncovered an alleged long-running theft scheme at a Thomas County business that officials say resulted in losses exceeding $250,000.
According to investigators, a local business owner reported the thefts on May 19 after discovering discrepancies during an audit. Authorities said the thefts are believed to have continued for nearly a year.
Following a review of store surveillance footage and suspect interviews, criminal investigators determined the stolen property value exceeded $250,000.
Investigators said the thefts involved two store employees identified as 37-year-old Annequenita Williams and 26-year-old Angela Grier.
Authorities also arrested 63-year-old Edward James “Red” Lamons, who investigators said frequently visited the business and developed relationships with Williams and Grier that allegedly led to a conspiracy to commit the thefts.
Williams and Grier were both charged with 5 counts of Theft by Taking – Felony and their bond was set at $7,100. Lemons was also charged with 5 counts of Theft, but his bond was set at $10,100. All three have been released on bail and their cases are pending.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing.
