Human Remains Found in Creek Area Under Investigation in Bibb County

MACON, Ga. — Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Bibb County, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the call came in at 9:03 p.m. on April 14, 2026, reporting a deceased person found in a wooded area south of the 200 block of Chambers Cove Drive.

Deputies responded and located human remains in a creek. Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and recovered the remains, which have been determined to be male.

Officials said the identity of the individual and how long the remains had been in the area are not yet known.

According to Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley, the remains will be sent to the GBI Crime Lab for examination to help determine the identity.
