Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Beating 77-Year-Old Clayton County Man to Death
CLAYTON COUNTY, Georgia – A Clayton County jury has convicted Kevin Lamar Flowers of murder in the brutal beating death of a 77-year-old man he had met online and lived with for several weeks.
According to Clayton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley, Flowers was found guilty of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated assault in connection with the death of Ivan Millman.
Prosecutors presented evidence during the trial showing that around July 26, 2023, Flowers attacked Millman inside his Clayton County home, beating him with a towel rack. Authorities said the two had met online and that Flowers had been living with Millman for about three weeks prior to the assault.
Millman suffered multiple brain bleeds as a result of the attack and died from his injuries on August 8, 2023.
During the trial, Flowers testified in his own defense and claimed that Millman had been “mugged in Atlanta.” However, prosecutors called 11 witnesses who provided testimony that convinced the jury the victim had been beaten inside his own home.
The trial began on February 23, 2026, and the jury returned its verdict on February 26, 2026.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Jamal Williams led the prosecution, with Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Anyssa Williams serving as co-counsel. Investigator Michael Hooks, Victim Advocate Kelita Almond, and Legal Assistant Sherita Smitherman also assisted in the case.
Judge Shana Rooks Malone presided over the trial and sentenced Flowers to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
District Attorney Mosley said the conviction brings accountability for the violent crime and expressed hope that the outcome provides some measure of peace and closure for Millman’s family.
