GORDON COUNTY, Georgia – A 65-year-old man has been arrested and charged after deputies say he attacked a woman with a pair of scissors inside her Plainville home Thursday morning.
Gordon County deputies responded around 9:30 a.m. February 12 after a resident reported she had been assaulted by a man armed with scissors. Authorities said the victim, with the help of another woman, was able to fend off the attacker before he fled the scene.
Deputies identified the suspect as Dwight S. Hunter and developed information about his whereabouts. He was located and arrested by Bartow County authorities near Adairsville and later transferred to the Gordon County Jail.
Hunter faces charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment, battery/elder abuse, three counts of terroristic threats involving alleged threats against the victim’s family, and violation of probation.
The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office described Hunter as a “career criminal,” noting his criminal record dates back to the 1970s and includes extensive time in the Georgia prison system. At the time of his arrest, he was on probation for aggravated assault and kidnapping offenses.
Sheriff Ralston thanked the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in locating and arresting Hunter.
