Warner Robins Officer Shot, Woman Critically Injured in Domestic Violence Incident
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia – Warner Robins police responded to a domestic disturbance call Thursday morning, January 29, at approximately 8:30 a.m. at a home on Redmond Street. Officers arrived within three minutes of receiving the call and discovered a 31-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound in what authorities described as a domestic violence incident.
As officers attempted to secure the scene, the suspect opened fire on law enforcement. During the exchange, a Warner Robins Police Department patrol officer was shot multiple times. The suspect then barricaded himself inside the residence, prompting a large multi-agency response.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist, including the Warner Robins Police Department SWAT Team, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, and officers from the Perry and Centerville Police Departments. After several hours, the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Rashaun Williams, surrendered and was taken into custody around 11:00 a.m. He was arrested outside the residence where he had barricaded himself.
Warner Robins Police Chief Wayne Fisher confirmed that both the injured officer and the female victim were transported to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, where they either underwent or were undergoing surgery. As of the latest update, both were listed in critical condition. The injured officer is a 35-year-old patrol officer who has served with the Warner Robins Police Department for eight years.
Authorities stated that the scene has been secured and there is no ongoing threat to the public, though residents were asked to continue avoiding the immediate area as the investigation proceeds.
In a statement, Matt Moulton, Sheriff of Houston County, condemned the attack, calling it “a violent and deliberate act against one of our law enforcement officers.”
“An attack on a law enforcement officer is an attack on this entire community,” Sheriff Moulton said. “This type of violence will not be tolerated—now, or ever.”
He added that the department’s thoughts and prayers are with the injured officer and his family, praised the swift response of first responders and medical personnel, and urged the community to continue cooperating with investigators.
The incident remains under active investigation.
