Bibb County Deputy Discovers Fentanyl, Stolen Gun After Suspected DUI Crash in Macon

MACON, Ga. – A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy recovered a large quantity of narcotics, firearms and ammunition after responding to a traffic crash involving a driver suspected of being under the influence.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Patrol Division Deputy John Kile responded to a crash on Second Street where the driver of a Nissan allegedly rear-ended a Honda that was stopped at a red light before sideswiping a steel utility pole.

During the investigation, deputies determined the driver was suspected of driving under the influence.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of digital scales, a large quantity of narcotics, including fentanyl, two handguns and ammunition.

Investigators said one of the recovered firearms had been reported stolen.

The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment before being charged.

Authorities said the driver faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the combined influence of multiple substances, trafficking fentanyl, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and theft by receiving stolen property from another state.

The investigation remains ongoing.
