Two Mexican Nationals Charged in Metro Atlanta Meth Trafficking Case After 44 Kilos Seized

ATLANTA, Georgia – Two men accused of running a large-scale methamphetamine operation in metro Atlanta appeared in federal court this week following the seizure of drugs and a firearm from an apartment near Piedmont Park.

According to federal prosecutors, Juan Carlos Solano Lorenzo and Jorge Luis Ramirez Bibiano, both citizens of Mexico who investigators say are in the United States illegally, are facing federal charges tied to meth distribution and illegal firearm possession.

“Quick work by our law enforcement partners disrupted this drug trafficking enterprise,” said Theodore S. Hertzberg, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia. “Agents seized large quantities of drugs, a firearm, and subsequently arrested the two defendants who are in our country illegally and will face justice here.”

DEA officials say agents learned the pair were allegedly distributing kilogram quantities of methamphetamine throughout the metro Atlanta area while operating out of an apartment near Piedmont Park. On January 21, 2026, agents executed a federal search warrant at the residence.

Inside the apartment, agents located approximately 44 kilograms of methamphetamine, 22 pills marked “M30” believed to contain fentanyl, and a loaded firearm found next to Ramirez Bibiano’s wallet. Investigators later confirmed both suspects are Mexican nationals unlawfully present in the United States.

“As part of the DEA’s Fentanyl-Free America initiative, DEA and our state and local partners are united in sending a clear message: trafficking dangerous drugs and carrying firearms will not be tolerated,” said Jae W. Chung, Special Agent in Charge of the DEA Atlanta Field Division.

Earlier today, Solano Lorenzo, 30, of Guerrero, Mexico, appeared before Russell G. Vineyard on a criminal complaint charging him with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Ramirez Bibiano, 28, also of Guerrero, appeared on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.

Both men were remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending further court proceedings.

Federal officials emphasized that the charges outlined in the criminal complaint are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case is being investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, with assistance from the Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Organized Crime Task Force Narcotics Unit, the Georgia State Patrol, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, and the Atlanta Police Department. The prosecution is being handled by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Amy Schwarzl.
