River Edge Opens New Adult Peer Support and Community Integration Center in Macon
MACON, Georgia – River Edge Behavioral Health has officially opened its new Adult Peer Support and Community Integration Center on Ingleside Avenue, expanding access to daily, hands-on support for adults living with behavioral health challenges and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The new center is designed as a one-stop space focused on recovery, independence, and connection. Rather than offering isolated services, the facility brings wellness, skill-building, and peer support together in a setting meant to reflect real life and real needs.
Inside the center, participants have access to a teaching kitchen for nutrition education and independent living skills, a full gymnasium that supports physical health and therapeutic recreation, and an arts and crafts studio that encourages creativity and cognitive development. Dedicated peer support suites allow Certified Peer Specialists to work one-on-one or in groups, using lived experience to help individuals build sustainable recovery paths. The facility also houses structured day programming and skill development services tailored specifically for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Cass Hatcher, CEO of River Edge Behavioral Health, said the opening represents a major step forward for the region.
“This grand opening is a milestone not just for River Edge but for the entire region,” Hatcher said. “By bringing wellness, vocational training, and peer-to-peer support together under one roof, we are creating a stronger network of care.”
The community is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour the new facility on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. The center is located at 2016 Ingleside Avenue in Macon, with parking available at the Bibb County School District complex and shuttle service provided.
River Edge officials say the new center reflects a broader commitment to meeting people where they are and creating spaces where individuals can build skills, confidence, and meaningful connections that support long-term well-being.
