Officer-Involved Shooting in Auburn, GA Results in Suspect Injured
AUBURN, Ga. – Barrow County Sheriff’s deputies were involved in a shooting this morning while serving a warrant at 546 Mt. Moriah Road. The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. when a man in a vehicle reportedly attempted to run over two deputies on scene. One deputy fired at the vehicle, injuring the man.
The injured suspect, who was not the individual wanted on the original warrant but had active warrants of his own, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No deputies were harmed during the incident.
Authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the District Attorney’s Office have been notified and will conduct an independent investigation, which will later be reviewed by the Piedmont Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
