Georgia Man Sentenced to Life Without Parole After Jury Convicts Him of Rape
A Paulding County jury has convicted a Dallas man of rape following a four-day trial that centered on testimony from the victim and investigators. On November 20, 2025, 55-year-old Kevin Tyrone Hagins was found guilty of rape for an assault reported in October 2022. The case began when the victim told the Dallas Police Department that Hagins had sexually assaulted her, prompting an investigation led by Detective Jeffrey Ross.
Jurors deliberated for about four hours before returning guilty verdicts on all counts. District Attorney Robert S. Lane praised the victim’s strength in taking the stand and the investigative work that supported the prosecution. He said the verdict reflects the seriousness of the crime and the commitment to holding offenders accountable.
Judge Dean C. Bucci oversaw the trial and later the sentencing hearing, where the victim delivered an emotional statement detailing the continuing impact of the assault. After hearing from both sides, Judge Bucci sentenced Hagins to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Assistant District Attorney Deidra Alexander, who prosecuted the case alongside Senior Assistant District Attorney John Tully, underscored the core issue in her closing argument: consent. She told jurors that in this community, “no” stands on its own and never requires repetition.
The Dallas Police Department conducted the investigation, and the Paulding Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office handled the prosecution.
