Coffee County ‘Menace to Society’ Arrested in Vehicle Theft and Burglary Case
James Cribbs (from Ware County Jail)

COFFEE COUNTY, GA – The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 36-year-old James Dustin Cribbs, who had been actively sought in connection with multiple vehicle thefts and a burglary. Cribbs, described by residents as a “Menace to Society,” is believed to have stolen five vehicles, including a motorcycle, over the past two weeks.

Cribbs was apprehended on November 18, 2025, by the Waycross Police Department after Coffee County DICE Unit detectives tracked a vehicle matching the description of one he allegedly stole the previous day in Douglas. The coordinated effort between agencies led to Cribbs’s capture without incident.

Investigators previously obtained video footage of Cribbs at the Jameson Inn Motel in Douglas, where he was seen driving a stolen white GMC truck and spray-painting over the front license plate in an attempt to avoid identification. That vehicle was recovered last week.

Sheriff Fred Cole thanked the community for their vigilance and praised the swift, coordinated response of law enforcement, highlighting the role of Chief Tommy Cox and the Waycross Police Department in the arrest.

The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its ongoing commitment to protecting residents and ensuring that individuals who pose a danger to the community are quickly brought to justice.
