Luthersville Firefighter Arrested on Child Molestation Charges

Luthersville, Georgia – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), along with the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, has arrested 69-year-old Mark Anthony Thompson of Luthersville on two counts of Child Molestation.

On October 14, 2025, the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office requested GBI assistance after receiving a report involving a firefighter with the Meriwether County Fire Department. Investigators say Thompson, who was an active firefighter at the time, was later terminated after the department was notified of the criminal investigation. The fire department has cooperated fully with authorities.

Thompson was arrested on October 31, 2025, and booked into the Meriwether County Jail.
