Coffee County Man Charged with Rape and Kidnapping of 17-year-old

COFFEE COUNTY, Ga.—A Coffee County man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including rape, after he allegedly used a firearm to sexually assault a 17-year-old victim.

Jose Carlos Ramirez was arrested and charged with Rape, Aggravated Assault, and Kidnapping just hours after the crime was reported on September 17. Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

In a statement, Sheriff Fred Cole said he was “devastated” by the incident but proud of his detectives’ “swift and professional response.” He emphasized that his office is committed to thoroughly investigating these cases and that crimes of this nature “will not be tolerated in Coffee County.”

Sheriff Cole also encouraged anyone who has been a victim of Ramirez or any other sexual predator to come forward. He assured the public that every report would be taken seriously and handled with complete confidentiality.

No further details will be released at this time out of respect for the minor victim.
