Burglary at Perimeter Mall Sparks Pursuit, Officer-Involved Shooting

DUNWOODY, Ga. – A burglary at Perimeter Mall in the early hours of Thursday, August 21, 2025, led to a police pursuit and officer-involved shooting, leaving one suspect in custody and two others still at large.

Police say the incident began around 3:00 a.m. when suspects used a sledgehammer to break into Request Boutique and steal an unknown number of luxury handbags. The offenders then stole an unoccupied mall security vehicle to flee the scene.

As officers responded, the suspects attempted to escape and drove the stolen vehicle toward police. Officers discharged their firearms before the vehicle crashed on Perimeter Center East. The driver fled on foot while two other suspects escaped prior to the crash.

A search involving Dunwoody Police, DeKalb County Police K-9 units, a helicopter, and a drone followed. At approximately 8:30 a.m., officers detained a male suspect suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. He was treated on scene and transported to North Fulton Hospital in stable condition.

The two remaining suspects have not been located. Three officers were involved in the shooting and have been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with protocol. None were injured.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the officer-involved shooting investigation, while Dunwoody Police continue their internal review. The case remains active.
