GBI, Remerton Police Searching for Murder Suspect in Teen’s Shooting Death

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and the Remerton Police Department are asking for the public’s help in locating 21-year-old Lavernous Arnold, who is wanted for murder in connection with the July 5, 2025, shooting death of 16-year-old Jaykavion Gary in Remerton, Lowndes County.

The suspect is described as 5’6″ tall and about 150 lbs. Authorities warn that Arnold may be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is urged not to approach and instead call 911 immediately.

The murder of Jaykavion Gary occurred near the 1900 block of Baytree Place in Remerton, just after midnight on July 5th. Detectives say a dispute was happening between multiple people in the parking lot. That’s when gunshots rang out and the teen was wounded. Gary was transported to the hospital were he succumbed to his injuries.
