DECATUR, GA – A DeKalb County grand jury has indicted Faduma Mohamed, 24, of Stone Mountain, on charges including Felony Murder and DUI after a high-speed chase ended in a crash that killed a 19-year-old teenager.

The indictment stems from a crash on April 14, 2025, that resulted in the death of Cooper Schoenke. According to a preliminary investigation, a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to pull over Mohamed for speeding and reckless driving on I-20. Mohamed allegedly fled, leading the trooper on a high-speed chase for nearly two miles.

The pursuit ended when Mohamed ran a red light at the intersection of Moreland Avenue and Euclid Avenue, crashing into Schoenke’s vehicle. In addition to Felony Murder, Mohamed was indicted on four counts of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, three counts of DUI related to controlled substances, Reckless Driving, and Possession of Methamphetamine.

The case will now be assigned to a Superior Court Judge for arraignment, at which point a trial date may be set.
