Teen Caught with Gun, Ski Mask After Attempted Car Break-Ins in Glynn County

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, the Glynn-Brunswick 911 Center received a report from a resident in the Tanglewood subdivision who witnessed two individuals attempting to break into a vehicle parked in their driveway.
Glynn County Police patrol officers responded and located two males nearby. When officers attempted to make contact, both suspects fled on foot. Officer Jonathan Donahue apprehended one of the individuals following a pursuit. The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Elijah Morten, was found wearing a ski mask and in possession of a handgun.
A search for the second suspect, described as a Black male teenager, was conducted using a bloodhound and drone units but was unsuccessful.
Morten was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center and charged with multiple offenses:
- Four counts of entering an automobile with intent to commit a theft or felony (felony)
- One count of criminal attempt to enter an automobile (felony)
- One count of loitering and prowling (misdemeanor)
- One count of possession of a handgun by a person under 18 (misdemeanor)
- One count of obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers (misdemeanor)
- One count of wearing a mask to conceal identity (misdemeanor)
The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify and locate the second suspect.
