One Injured, Pets Perish in Snellville House Fire

One person was critically injured and three dogs died in a house fire that broke out Tuesday evening in unincorporated Snellville. Firefighters battled heavy flames and a partial roof collapse while attempting a rescue.

Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services responded to reports of a house fire on the 4200 block of Round Stone Trail SW at approximately 7:35 p.m. Callers indicated that a person was trapped inside the burning home.

Intense Rescue Effort

Upon arrival at 7:38 p.m., fire crews found significant fire activity on the back of a split-level home. Bystanders confirmed someone was still inside, prompting an immediate and aggressive attack on the flames and a search for victims.

During initial rescue attempts, as firefighters tried to enter a second-floor window, the roof of the structure collapsed. This forced crews to pull back to assess the stability of the building before continuing. Once the fire was brought under control and it was deemed safe, search teams re-entered the residence.

Firefighters located one adult inside, who was quickly brought out to waiting medical personnel. The critically injured patient was then transported to Piedmont Eastside hospital. No other human injuries were reported from the incident.

Pets Lost, One Rescued

Tragically, search teams also found three deceased dogs within the home. One cat was found suffering from smoke inhalation. Medical crews provided the feline with oxygen using a specialized pet mask before transferring it to Gwinnett Animal Welfare & Enforcement for further veterinary care.

The fire was brought under control shortly after 7:49 p.m. Fire Investigators are on the scene, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

A large contingent of emergency equipment responded to the scene, including five engines, two ladder trucks, and multiple specialized units and command staff.
