Thomson Man Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting During Fight

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged Tashawn Boyd, 31, of Thomson, GA, with Felony Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, following a death investigation in Thomson.
The Thomson Police Department requested GBI assistance on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier that evening.
Preliminary information indicates that around 9:00 p.m., Thomson Police officers responded to the 400 block of Bussey Avenue after reports of a man being shot. The victim, identified as Michaeline Lowe, 41, of Thomson, was shot by Boyd during an altercation in the front yard of a home.
Lowe was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Boyd subsequently turned himself in to the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office shortly after midnight on Friday, June 20, 2025.
