Jones County Man Arrested for Family Violence Against Elderly Mother

Christopher Covey, 42, was arrested on June 14, 2025, after deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance involving family violence at his home in Gray. He faces charges of Criminal Damage to Property – 2nd Degree (Family Violence) and Exploitation & Intimidation of the Elderly.

Deputies learned that Covey, who resides with his elderly and disabled mother, allegedly became verbally abusive after a disagreement over some missing musical equipment. He reportedly directed his anger at his mother and caused damage to her bedroom door and frame.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office emphasized its commitment to taking crimes against vulnerable community members very seriously and urged anyone experiencing elder abuse or family violence to seek help.
