Twiggs County Pursuit Ends With DUI Arrest, Four Unrestrained Children Found in Vehicle

A high-speed pursuit on I-16 ended with the arrest of Christian Briana Jackson-Swinney after deputies discovered four unrestrained children in her vehicle along with drugs and alcohol.
On June 8, 2025, at approximately 6:39 p.m., members of the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) observed a 2018 Nissan Altima with multiple equipment violations and a driver not wearing a seatbelt. When deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the Nissan initially pulled onto the shoulder with hazard lights flashing but then accelerated, reaching speeds of over 120 mph.
During the pursuit, the driver passed other vehicles in the emergency lane at speeds exceeding 100 mph, endangering other motorists. Deputies successfully executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) near the 27-mile marker, forcing the vehicle into a ditch. The driver was blocked in by CSU deputies and taken into custody.
Jackson-Swinney, who agreed to a field sobriety test, was found to be over the legal alcohol limit and was arrested for DUI. A passenger, Quantavious Durden, was cited for possession of an open container and released. Deputies located a small burnt marijuana blunt near the center console and two open alcoholic beverages: a “Clubtails Watermelon Margarita” and a “Smirnoff Blue Raspberry.”
The most serious discovery came after the stop, when deputies found four minors in the back seat. A 7-year-old was found sitting on the floorboard without a seatbelt, while the other three children, aged 9, 11, and 12, were secured in seatbelts. All children were evaluated and cleared by EMS and Twiggs County Fire & Rescue.
Jackson-Swinney faces multiple charges, including DUI, Child Endangerment DUI (4 counts), Possession of Marijuana, Speeding, Fleeing and Eluding, Reckless Driving, Failure to Yield to Emergency Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended, and multiple traffic violations related to safety equipment and child restraints.
The investigation remains ongoing.
