Stop for Runaway Juvenile Leads to Murder Arrest in Jones County
Arrested: Darrell Stanley

Acting on information about a runaway juvenile, Jones County Sheriff’s Office deputies located and stopped a vehicle on June 13, 2025. The stop led to the unexpected arrest of 17-year-old Darrell Stanley of Macon, GA, who was wanted for murder in Bibb County and vehicle theft in Jones County.

Deputies suspected the runaway juvenile was in the vehicle, which prompted the stop. Inside, they identified Stanley, who was quickly found to have active warrants—including one for the shooting death of 22-year-old Marcus Cunningham Jr. at the Autumn Trace Apartments on June 5, and another for vehicle theft in Jones County.

Stanley was taken into custody without incident and subsequently turned over to Bibb County authorities. A 16-year-old male suspect had previously been arrested for his role in Cunningham’s murder. The runaway juvenile was safely returned to their family.
