The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Habersham County, Georgia, on June 11, 2025, at the request of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office. One deputy sustained minor injuries during the incident, and the primary suspect, Jonathan William Harris, 34, of Sautee, Georgia, remains at large.

According to preliminary information, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a Habersham County deputy initiated a traffic stop on a truck towing a trailer with two flat tires near Juniper Trail in Toccoa. After stopping at the end of Juniper Trail, Harris, the driver, rammed the truck into the deputy’s patrol car as the deputy exited his vehicle, striking and knocking the deputy to the ground. Harris then exited the truck, prompting the deputy to fire his weapon. Harris fled the scene on foot and is actively being sought by law enforcement.

A passenger in the truck, Antone Cortez Hall, 44, of Gainesville, Georgia, was arrested at the scene. Hall has been charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Obstruction of Officer, and Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon. The truck and trailer involved had been previously reported stolen out of Hall County.

Harris faces multiple charges, including Possession of a Firearm/Knife During the Commission of a Crime, Fleeing/Eluding a Police Officer, Aggravated Assault Upon a Law Enforcement Officer, Obstruction of Officer, and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. He also has outstanding warrants stemming from an unrelated incident.

Hall is currently being held at the Habersham County Detention Center. The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office is handling all criminal charges related to the incident, while the GBI’s investigation focuses on the use of force. Once complete, the GBI’s findings will be forwarded to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
