Baxley Teen Charged with Murder in Fatal Shooting of 41-Year-Old Man

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged 18-year-old Ty’Relle Tarver of Baxley with Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and Aggravated Assault in connection to the death of 41-year-old Jeremy Beckworth, also of Baxley.

On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Baxley Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting near the intersection of Highland Drive and Edgarton Road. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered Beckworth suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Baxley Police Department requested the assistance of the GBI to conduct a death investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that Tarver fired multiple rounds at Beckworth and his girlfriend, striking Beckworth.

Beckworth’s body was transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler for a full autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Tarver was taken into custody without incident early Tuesday morning, June 3, 2025. He is currently being held at the Appling County Jail.

The GBI expressed appreciation to the Baxley Police Department, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Department of Corrections, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service for their assistance. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
