A 12-foot alligator caused a stir Friday morning after it was discovered outside a business on Joe Tamplin Industrial Boulevard, prompting a response from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Animal Enforcement Officer Rebecca Galeazzo called for backup after encountering the massive reptile, which had crawled up to the building overnight. The alligator resisted efforts to be moved, putting up a fight before it was ultimately captured and relocated unharmed back into the wild.

Assisting in the removal were BCSO Shelter Manager Sonja Adams, Officers Leann Strickland and Lupe Ortiz, Jeremy Register, Tracey and Shane Weathers, and members of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department.
