Search Underway for Missing 7-Year-Old After Lake Tobesofkee Drowning Incident; Two Children Rescued

Emergency crews are actively searching for a 7-year-old boy after a possible drowning incident at the Michael Dewayne Jones Public Fishing Area on Lake Tobesofkee this afternoon. Two other children, ages 8 and 10, were rescued and transported to a medical facility.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Macon Bibb County Fire Department, and members of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene at approximately 2:38 p.m. on Friday, May 23.
Deputies were informed that a 7-year-old male, an 8-year-old male, and a 10-year-old male were in the water when they suddenly went under. Deputies and Fire Department personnel entered the water and successfully recovered the 8-year-old and 10-year-old boys.
Both rescued children were transported for medical treatment. According to medical staff, the 8-year-old is in critical but stable condition, while the 10-year-old is in stable condition.
First responders are continuing the active search for the missing 7-year-old. The incident is currently under investigation.
