Former Hull Mayor Indicted for 54 Counts of Card Fraud, Turns Himself In

Former Hull Mayor Paul Walton, 58, of McDonough, has been indicted on 56 criminal counts, including Theft by Taking, Violation of Oath of Office, and Financial Transaction Card Fraud. Walton turned himself in to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on May 8, 2025.
Walton, who served as mayor from 2019 to 2023, was the subject of a criminal investigation initiated in January 2024 by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Office of Special Investigations at the request of the Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. The investigation focused on allegations that Walton had used his city-issued credit card for personal expenses.
The case was presented to the Northern Judicial Circuit Grand Jury on April 21, 2025, resulting in Walton’s indictment on the following charges:
- 1 count of Violation of Oath of Office
- 1 count of Felony Theft by Taking
- 54 counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud
Walton was booked into the Madison County Jail and is currently awaiting further legal proceedings.
