Three Arrested in Attempted Contraband Drop at Washington State Prison

On Monday, March 3, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Washington County deputies, in collaboration with the Georgia Department of Corrections, arrested three suspects in connection with an attempted contraband drop at Washington State Prison in Davisboro.
A deputy on patrol was alerted to a package that had been dropped onto prison grounds. Shortly after, the deputy stopped a speeding vehicle and detected a strong odor of marijuana. An investigation linked the occupants to the contraband drop, leading to their arrests.
Authorities recovered 15 pounds of tobacco, 5 pounds of marijuana, drone-related items, and other evidence. Two firearms were also seized, though they were not believed to be part of the drop.
The arrested suspects and their charges are as follows:
- Tristin Butler, 18, of Ellewood, GA – Possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, unauthorized use of an unmanned aircraft, items prohibited without authorization (marijuana and tobacco), crossing guard lines with contraband, and trading with inmates.
- Corey Woods, 24, of Atlanta, GA – Possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, unauthorized use of an unmanned aircraft, items prohibited without authorization (marijuana and tobacco), trading with inmates, crossing guard lines with contraband, and possession of marijuana.
- Rafael Batista, 22, of Conyers, GA – Possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, unauthorized use of an unmanned aircraft, items prohibited without authorization (marijuana and tobacco), trading with inmates, crossing guard lines with contraband, and possession of marijuana.
The investigation remains ongoing.
