Teen Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting of 16-year-old in Cuthbert

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged 19-year-old Kyle Gilbert of Cuthbert in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Tyrae Campbell.

Gilbert has been charged with two counts of Reckless Conduct and one felony count of Involuntary Manslaughter.

On Sunday, February 23, 2025, the Cuthbert Police Department requested GBI assistance regarding a shooting incident on Morgan Street. Officers arriving at the scene found Campbell with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Campbell’s body was taken to the GBI’s Macon Crime Lab for an autopsy. The investigation is active and ongoing.
