Macon Day at State Capitol Showcases City’s Strengths

Over 100 Macon residents traveled to the Georgia State Capitol on February 19, 2025, for Macon Day, an event organized by the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce to highlight the city’s achievements and advocate for its interests.

The day began with a bus trip to Atlanta, carrying community partners, program sponsors, and the Leadership Macon Class of 2025. Attendees participated in a full day of presentations by Georgia public officials and state policy experts, focusing on issues and opportunities relevant to the Macon region.

“Macon Day made our presence seen and heard at the State Capitol,” said Chamber President/CEO Jessica Walden. “From our full day of advocacy at the Gold Dome to our fish fry reception that showcased the best of Macon, it was a day for Georgia to remember, especially when it comes to our collective impact on the State.”

Following the day’s events at the Capitol, attendees gathered at the Georgia Freight Depot for the Macon Day Fish Fry reception. The event celebrated Macon’s recent recognition by the Wall Street Journal as one of the “Top 25” places to visit in 2025. The reception featured live music by Macon’s Dean Brown and a full concert by the Macon Music Revue, showcasing the city’s rich musical heritage with tributes to Little Richard, the Allman Brothers Band, Otis Redding, and others. Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper also joined the band as a special musical guest.
