Waynesboro Police Release Weekly Blotter, Reports Shoplifting and Missing Dog

Beginning this month, the Waynesboro Police Department will release a weekly police blotter every Monday, providing a selection of calls for service handled by officers. The first blotter covers incidents from January 27 through February 2, 2025.

Tuesday, January 28
An officer responded to Dollar General regarding a prior shoplifting incident. An employee reported that the suspect had stolen items, believed to be Little Debbie snack cakes, but the exact quantity was unknown.

Friday, January 31
An officer was dispatched to Magnolia Acres Apartments for a missing dog. The complainant reported that her dog disappeared from her apartment before a neighbor informed her that it had briefly been inside their bathroom. The neighbor stated the dog later ran outside through an open door and could not be located.

In a separate incident, an officer responded to a damage-to-property report on East 6th Street. The complainant discovered her parked vehicle had been struck overnight by an unknown vehicle that left the scene. Debris at the location indicated the suspect vehicle was a General Motors model, though the exact make and model were undetermined.

Saturday, February 1
Officers responded to Walmart for a suspected shoplifter. Store employees reported the individual was running through the store in an attempt to escape. Upon spotting officers, the suspect fled out the front entrance, leading them on a foot pursuit through a vacant lot and into a nearby warehouse. Officers apprehended him, and he was transported to Burke County Detention Center, where he was booked for Shoplifting and Obstruction.
